Highway - impressions about life with the cultural expert's eye

As you speed through life on the highway, all you see is the vehicle in front of you. You follow it or overtake it. You look in the rearview mirror. That's what you focus your attention on. On what's in front of you and what's behind you. On the future and the past. You're running away from the past. You want to catch up and stay ahead of the future. But you are not Here and Now. You are not in your own life.

You observe other vehicles and assess their value. You judge by the body, the year, the brand. By what's outside. You're judging. You're criticizing. You're excluding. You divide into better and worse. But you can't see the Interior. You can't see the Driver. You don't see the human being.

And around the highway there is a wall on both sides, making it impossible to see what is around you. Limited vision. Tunnel vision. You don't see the bigger picture.

The highway is a Buzz. A hum that drowns out your own thoughts and the voice of your heart.

Speeding down the highway through life, you chase, run, race. And how easy it is to miss your life. In pursuit of something. Racing against someone. Racing against time. Racing with yourself and with your own life. You don't remember moments, you don't see people. Because what you see is just a vehicle in front of you and behind you. Past and future. You see an Illusion. Because the past is a distorted image of your emotions. The future is a hazy fantasy. Both, a cinematic melodrama.

And there, somewhere away from the highway, in the bosom of nature, there is another human being who looks at you and asks, surprised: "Where are you going, my friend? Stop. Listen to the birds singing. Listen to the rustle of the trees, to the melody of the wind. Say hello to the sun, hello to the sky, hello to the earth. Say hello to another person, no matter who they are. He is your Brother, although seemingly so different.”

You are it. You are a part of it all. All this wealth. You don't have to chase anything. You don't have to race. You don't have to run away. This Now moment is important. Because your life is Now. Not yesterday, not tomorrow—NOW. And Everything you need is within you. Highway versus Nature. Two different worlds, albeit in One. Which one do you choose? A noise that creates divisions or heart.

As you rush through life, it's easy to overlook what's really important in life. To overlook yourself and your own life.
